Building the eBookCrafter Plugin

A WordPress plugin that helps users to convert their blog posts into beautiful and professional PDFs and ebooks.

Project Type: WordPress Plugin
Client: Naweed Chougle, Founder of eBookCrafter

Overview

Naweed came in with a plugin idea that had potential but was not ready for real publishing needs. The original version was built vibe-coded and is lacking lots of essential features. He had the idea to make this plugin a go-to for WordPress users who want to convert their blog posts into a professional PDF or ebooks.

Naweed wanted to marketing his brand eBookCrafter instead of learning how to code. He needed someone who could take his initial concept and turn it into a stable, scalable and easy-to-use plugin that would support long-term growth.

My Role

I took over the project from the ground up and rebuilt the complete plugin in a clean, modern, WordPress-friendly way. My goal was simple. Create a workflow that makes book creation fast, consistent and smooth for any editor/writer using WordPress.

What I Delivered

The final solution included a complete rebuild of the plugin which included strong technical foundations, automating coding standards, and deployment process. I have recommended Naweed to use Freemius for accepting payments to ensure that his plugin is ready to sell after I deliver.

Key improvements delivered:

• A smoother and more organised writing workflow using WordPress default core editor
• Better publishing structure with existing blog posts as chapters
• A stronger core built with clean and reliable code
• A custom PDF generation system that connects core blocks to DOM PDF compatible HTML format to creates formatted ebooks automatically
• Improved maintainability to reduce update issues
• Scalable architecture to support future books and features

The end result was a plugin that did exactly what the founder wanted. Within a couple of weeks of launch for the plugin, Naweed started to get the traction and got that converted to actual sales due to a robust and stable WordPress plugin that works.

Technical Highlights

• Custom Gutenberg blocks for chapters and sections
• Table of Contents generator
• Custom backend architecture for better stability
• Structured data flow for clean exports
• PDF rendering engine built to handle long-form content
• Secure and lightweight plugin structure

All of this was built to match WordPress best practices and give the plugin a long life with easy updates.

The Impact

After the rebuild, eBookCrafter became a reliable tool instead of a prototype. Naweed now has a plugin that he can sell confidently without worrying about formatting issues, publishing delays or unexpected errors.

Main outcomes:

• Faster content creation
• Consistent formatting without manual work
• Reliable PDF exports
• Better user experience for writers
• A plugin foundation that can grow with future ideas
